Both Binghams are members of the 1933 Class of Washington High School and Clifford is a graduate of Indiana State Teachers’ College. He taught in the schools of Veale Township prior to World War II.
In 1941, the Bingham’s moved to Washington, D.C., where Clifford worked in personnel management for the Secretary of the Navy. He served in the Navy from 1943 to the end of the war, at which time they returned to Washington D.C. where he once again worked for the Naval Department.
A member of the Navy Reserves, he was called to active duty during the Korean Conflict and served in San Diego, Calif. Following his service, Clifford was offered a position at the Army Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis. He retired from there in 1972 and the Bingham’s moved back to Washington in 1974.
They have both been very active in local groups, including Bethel United Methodist Church, the Daviess County Museum and Washington Kiwanis.
