Montgomery teen killed in accident

MONTGOMERY —

A Montgomery teen has died as a result of injuries sustained in an accident. Monday night around 10:11 p.m. the Daviess County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting that a vehicle had struck a horse drawn cart on CR 900E near Graber Post Buildings.

Sheriff's deputies investigated the crash and learned that a 2004 Ford F-250 pickup driven by Tristan Wagler, 17, Montgomery, was southbound on CR 900E when Wagler failed to see the horse drawn cart owned by Mark E. Raber of Montgomery. Wagler then swerved to avoid the cart but struck the left rear corner of the cart. All four of the occupants of the cart were ejected.

Amy Wagler, 17, Montgomery, was transported to Daviess Community Hospital by Southwest Ambulance Service and later air lifted by Air Evac to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville where she died as a result of her injuries. All other people involved in the accident were uninjured and did not require medical attention.

The accident is still under investigation.
