18-year-old loses life in accident

LOOGOOTEE - A 18-year-old man lost his life in a one-vehicle accident on Sunday.

According to a press release from the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, At 9:03 a.m. Sunday, the Daviess County Sheriff's Department received several 911 calls regarding an accident on CR 1200E (St. Mary's Road) near West Boggs Lake. Callers advised two individual were injured with one of them trapped in the vehicle. 

The vehicle was passing another vehicle on the left and hydroplaned on wet roadways and lost control, left the roadway and struck a tree head-on.

Daviess County Coroner Laura Petty pronounced the driver, 18-year-old Brandon Kyle Wagler of Loogootee, deceased at the scene of massive chest injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, 12-year-old Jacob Wagler, was taken to Daviess Community Hospital by personal vehicle, was treated and released with cuts and bruises.
