15 charged in multi-state meth bust

---- — Local, state and federal authorities have charged 15 individuals in a three-state meth bust on Tuesday.

According to a release from the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, a multi-agency task force served arrest warrants for 14 individuals in connection to a multi-state drug ring following an 18-month investigation. One person is still wanted in connection to the drug ring termed the "Alan Marshall methamphetamine distribution organization."

Marshall, 43, 620 W. Main St., was arrested on state charges of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and then federal charges of conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine.

Police said the drug ring investigation started in Daviess County and later helped with the federal Drug Enforcement Agency out of Evansville and the Indiana State Police. A federal grand jury brought indictments from the U.S. District Court in Evansville against several in the ring. Arrest warrants were also issued through Daviess County Superior Court.

During Tuesday morning raids in Washington, Los Angeles, and Coldwater, Miss., officers found 2 pounds of methamphetamine, marijuana, cash and firearms.

Among the arrested locally were:

* Leroy Elsworth Ellis, 23, Washington, on a state warrant for conspiracy to commit dealing in methamphetamine and dealing marijuana. He was also charged with possession of marijuana over 30 grams, dealing in marijuana over 30 grams, possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.

* Jeffrey Scott Fox, 47, Washington, on a state warrant for conspiracy to commit dealing in methamphetamine.

* Rhonda Kay Lewis, 47, Washington, on a state warrant for conspiracy to commit dealing in methamphetamine.

* Jennifer Malee Sandoval, 34, Washington, on a state warrant for conspiracy to commit dealing in methamphetamine and a failure to appear warrant.

* Adam James Tolbert, 26, Washington, on a state warrant for conspiracy to commit dealing in methamphetamine.

* Eunice Lesure, 32, no known address, on a state warrant for conspiracy to commit dealing in methamphetamine.

* Marcus Newson, 34, 400 E. Main St., on a federal warrant for conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine.

* James Coy, 43, 901 W. Main St., on a federal warrant for conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine.

* Haven Ramsey, 55, 1705 North St., on a federal warrant for money laundering.

* Ruby Ramsey, 56, 1705 North St., on a federal warrant for money laundering.

Others arrested in the ring include:

* Christopher Kimmons, 41, Coldwater, Miss., on a federal warrant for conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine.

* Antoin Alson, 36, Long Beach, Calif., on a federal warrant for conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine.

* Barbara Kimmons, 68, Coldwater, Miss., on a federal warrant for money laundering.

One man, David Merritt, 43, no known address, is still a fugitive and is currently wanted by authorities.

Six were taken to the Daviess County Security Center and were being held on $500,000 bond. One person, Fox, was released on bond and another, Marshall, was transferred to another facility.

Many departments assisted in the arrests including the sheriff's departments of Daviess and Vanderburgh counties, Washington, Vincennes and Evansville police departments, the U.S. Marshal's service, the United States Postal Service, Internal Revenue Service, the National Guard, Indiana State Police and the Daviess County Prosecutor's Office.

The release said investigations are still continuing into the Marshall ring.
