Washington Times Herald

JASPER — A Jasper woman was killed Tuesday afternoon near the Crane gate on U.S. 231 when her minivan struck an SUV driven by an Odon boy.

Margaret Clark, 61, 653 Schnetter Road, Jasper, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Daviess County Coroner.

The accident occurred on U.S. 231 about two miles north of Farlen near the gate to the Naval Weapons Support Center, Crane, and Westgate, at about 3:33 p.m.

Cameron Chestnut, 17, was driving a 2005 Ford Sport Explorer south on U.S. 231, and he was being followed by Clark. Chestnut lost control on the snow/slush covered roadway. His vehicle had started to spin across U.S. 231, and Mrs. Clark struck the Ford in its passenger door with the front of her vehicle.

The impact caused severe damage to both vehicles.

Chestnut was transported to Daviess Community Hospital for treatment.
