---- — The family of Samantha Porter will be hosting the second annual “Running With An Angel Samantha Porter 5k Run/Walk” at North Daviess High School on Saturday, March 8th. Samantha was a Senior at North Daviess High School who was called to Heaven on Sept. 28, 2012 while she was on her way home from the high school football senior night festivities. Sam was very active in numerous extracurricular activities and sports and was eager to go to college with the hopes of becoming a physician. The family has set up the Samantha Elisabeth Porter Memorial Scholarship in order to honor her memory by assisting college bound seniors in the community who have the same passion for life that Sam had .
The “Running With An Angel Samantha Porter 5k Run/Walk will consist of a Kids 1 Mile Fun Run at 10 a.m. followed by a balloon release and 5k at 10:30, with registration opening at 9 a.m.. There will also be a silent auction. Registration for the Kids 1 Mile Fun Run for children 12 and under is $15 and the 5k is $25. All proceeds go to the Samantha Elisabeth Porter Memorial Scholarship. Registration forms can be picked up at the North Daviess Medical Clinic in Odon as well as on Samantha’s website at http://samanthaporter.webs.com/. Registration forms and money must be received by Feb. 21 in order to ensure getting a t-shirt. Participants can also register on March 8th, but are not guaranteed a shirt.
