---- — JASPER — A special morning devoted to women’s health is planned for Jan. 11, 2014, from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Huntingburg Event Center. Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s “Women of the Heartland” will feature presentations by Dr. Geoffrey Day, Dr. Farah Snyder, and Dr. Zouhair Bibi.

Dr. Day, cardiologist, will present “Getting to the HEART of Women’s Health.” He received his medical degree at University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville. He completed fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at St. Vincent Health System in Indianapolis, and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology.

Dr. Snyder, obstetrician and gynecologist, will share “Getting the Facts on Osteoporosis.” She received her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. She completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich.

Dr. Bibi, endocrinologist, will discuss “Diabetes Prevention and Management.” He received his medical degree from Eberhard-Karis University in Tubingen, West Germany. He completed a residency in internal medicine at University of Texas Health and Science Center in San Antonio, and a fellowship in endocrinology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He is board certified in endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.

Pre-registration is required and may be completed online at www.mhhcc.orgby clicking on “Classes & Events,” or by calling Memorial Hospital’s Marketing and Public Relations department at 812-996-2352. Women who pre-register by Jan. 6 will receive a gift certificate for free blood screening including total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, and blood glucose at Memorial Hospital’s Outpatient Lab.

In lieu of an admission fee, donations will be accepted for the Integrative Medicine program at the Phillip R. Dawkins Heart and Vascular Center at Memorial Hospital. Light refreshments will be served. The Huntingburg Event Center is located at 110 East 14th Street in Huntingburg.
