---- — WHS to hold financial aid night

Washington High School will be hosting a financial aid night Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. in the WHS cafeteria. All senior students and parents are invited to attend.

Mike McClure, from the Vincennes University Financial Aid Office, will be presenting. He has worked for VU financial aid for a number of years and is extremely knowledgeable on the ins and outs of filling out the FAFSA, including any special circumstances that may arise. The main focus of the evening will be the FAFSA that must be filled out prior to March 1. However, all forms of financial aid for students planning on going to college will be discussed.

Ruritan to have ham and beef shoot

Montgomery Ruritan Club will sponsor a ham and beef shooting match beginning at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, with a closed beef match at 2:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Ruritan Club park improvements, community betterment and charitable donations. Free ham and beans will be served. Club workers are reminded to report for usual work assignments.

Redevelopment Commission to meet

Daviess County Redevelopment Commission will meet at 8 a.m. Monday in the Commissioners’ Room at the courthouse.

Co. Commissioners to meet

Daviess County Commissioners will meet in executive session at 1 p.m. Monday to discuss prospective employees.

DC Plan Commission to meet

Daviess County Advisory Plan Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Commissioners’ Room at the courthouse.

Washington Planning to meet

The Washington Planning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Council Chambers, 200 Harned Ave. Items included on the agenda: election of officers and appointment of attorney; appointment to Design Review Committee.

Red Cross blood drives

The Daviess County Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring the following blood drives in January. They include:

Today, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. — Washington Walmart, 1801 S SR 57, Washington

Jan. 9, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., — Providence Mennonite Church, 47538 U.S. 50E, Washington

Jan. 15, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — West Gate Academy, 13598 E. Westgate Court, Odon

Jan. 16, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. — Harvest Community Fellowship, 200 W. Main St., Washington

Jan. 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Knights of Columbus, 319 E. Main St., Washington

Jan. 28, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. — North Daviess Elementary, 5498 E. SR 58, Elnora

All blood drives are open to public except Providence Mennonite Church.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, and cannot have given blood in the past 56 days. The Red Cross is especially low on Type O+ and O-, but all types are desperately needed.
