Black 'bucks' trend, celebrates 100 years

---- — Donald “Buck” Black celebrated 100 years with a celebration at The Legends Village on Friday

Black, the youngest of five siblings, was born Jan. 10, 1914 in Wheatland to Arthur and Anna Black.

A lifelong farmer in Knox County, Black was also a World War II veteran.

He served in the Philippines during the war as a medic driver. Upon returning, he married Barbara (Welton) Black in 1946. She passed away in 2008.

After retiring in 1997, he moved to Washington.

A 100th birthday party for Black will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Kiwanis Building in Eastside Park.

Everyone is invited. The family requests no gifts.
