Monsanto donates to Barr-Reeve

Recently, this “Big Check” was presented through the “America’s Farmers Grow Communities – Monsanto Fund” to the Barr-Reeve Scholarship Foundation at Barr-Reeve High School in Montgomery.

Troy Clawson, the district sales manager for Monsanto, made the presentation before a large crowd attending the White River Valley at Barr-Reeve boys varsity and junior varsity basketball games. Clawson explained the meaning and purpose of this very special presentation. Steve and Ginger Hart, Daviess County Indiana farmers, had selected the Barr-Reeve Scholarship Foundation to receive a donation of $2,500 through “America’s Farmers Grow Communities-Monsanto Fund.”

Further, he pointed out, “Monsanto recognizes that nonprofit organizations such as the BRSF are vital to the development of rural communities across America, and we salute your organization for doing great work in this community.” Clawson also mentioned.

“This was the fourth consecutive yeareligible farmers across America registered for the chance to direct this $2,500 donation to a nonprofit organization in the communities in which they lived and worked.”

Steve and Ginger Hart of rural Cannelburg presented this $2,500 Monsanto Fund award in the honored memory of Brandon Kyle Wagler, a 2012-13 Barr-Reeve class valedictorian and standout athlete, who was killed in a car accident on Sept. 29, 2013, on his way to church.

Charles Albert Kavanaugh, president of BRSF, extended a special thank you to the Harts, to Monsanto and associates for their generosity – this $2,500 will be used to increase scholarship awards to deserving Barr-Reeve seniors and post graduates at the sophomore, junior, senior or post senior year of college study in 2014-15.
