Methodist women meet at Roberts home

---- — The United Methodist Women of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church met at the home of Donna Roberts on March 6. Chris Allison, president, opened the meeting by welcoming all who came and led the group in the purpose of the UMW.

Eleanor Lawyer presented devotions from John 4:7-14 on the “Living Water.” The minutes from the Oct. 1, 2013 meeting were read. The treasurer’s report was given by Bonnie James.

The group will send a donation to the Spring Gathering project to provide school supplies to needy children and a donation to the “Team Jesus” work camp project to help provide welcome bags for the attendees.

The Spring Gathering will be held at Bicknell United Methodist Church on April 12, starting at 10 a.m. The speaker will be Susan Burnett of the Lebanon, Ind., Children’s Home. Also discussed was the Team Jesus work camp which will bring 450 youth into the Simpson United Methodist Church in Evansville to do home repairs, dray walling, and other jobs for Evansville area families.

Eleanor Lawyer brought caring cards for everyone to sign and send to Ruth Ellen Allison, Trudy Barber, Donna Hayden and Helen Himsel. Mary Ann Richardson passed around “mission cards” for congratulations to Steve Halter for winning the Conservation Farmer of the Year award and a welcome baby card to Allison and Ross Klippel on the birth of their daughter, Collins. Pastor Phil Richardson offered prayers for Ruth Ellen Allison, Trudy Barber, Helen Himsel and J.C. Shelton.

Easter Lenten Sunday night services were discussed. All services begin at 6 p.m. with finger foods afterwards. Pastor Richardson will deliver the message at the Bethel South service on March 16. Eleanor Lawyer volunteered to bring the drinks. All were reminded to bring finger foods for the fellowship time following the service. Services will be held at Maysville on March 9; Bethel South March 16; Pleasant Hill March 23; Wesley March 30; Christ United April 6; and Bethel North April 13.

Easter sunrise services were also discussed for April 20. Following the sunrise service will be Easter breakfast followed by regular service. All were reminded to bring breakfast items. Chris Allison volunteered to provide drinks for the breakfast.

The church family meal will be held in early May. Members were asked to submit ideas for the restaurant for the dinner.

Bonnie James gave the program on “Positive Thinkers” and read the story “From Your Secret Admirer.”

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. April 3 at the home of Chris Allison with Eleanor Lawyer giving the progrm.

Ice cream was served by the hosts.
