---- — Sara Lewis of Washington captured the novice championship title in showmanship at the 2013 Nutrena American Quarter Horse Association East Novice Championship Show in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on Oct. 4.
Lewis showed the American quarter horse, Zippin Gucci Style (Sam), who is a 2004 bay gelding owned by Lewis. Zippin Gucci Style, sired by Gucci Only and out of Zippin In Style, was bred by Peter J. Mead of Washington.
The champion received a prize package that included a Montana silversmith’s belt buckle, gold trophy, neck wreath and top-10 patch.
Novice competitors must qualify for this event nationally or through an affiliate to compete in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. More than 1,550 entries competed for top honors at the Nutrena AQHA East Novice Championship this year. The show was held Oct. 1-6 at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum.
