Memorial Hospital outpatient surgery celebrates anniversary

The Washington Times-Herald

---- — JASPER — On Oct. 1, 2012, Memorial Outpatient Surgery Center opened on the first level of the St. Thomas Medical Center. With an expectation of 3,000 surgeries to be performed at this location in the first year of opening, Memorial Outpatient Surgery Center performed 13 percent more surgeries or procedures than projected.

The success of this facility can be attributed to the physicians and hospital partnering together to provide first-class outpatient surgery in a convenient, efficient and easily accessible setting,” said Kyle Bennett, chief operating officer for Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. “With over 3,400 surgeries or procedures, it also confirms this facility was needed in the regional area. We’re excited to continue into the second year of operations at the Memorial Outpatient Surgery Center.”

Memorial Outpatient Surgery Center has three operating suites and two procedure rooms that are utilized for surgeries and procedures that can be performed safely on an outpatient basis. The center is currently planning to open a fourth operating room in December.

The specialties performing surgeries and procedures at Memorial Outpatient Surgery Center are orthopaedics, general surgery, ear nose and throat, urology and gynecology.
