VFW ladies hold October meeting

Cissell-Jackman Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 3321 met Oct. 9 at the post home for its regular meeting.

The meeting was opened by President Pam Cook presiding over seven members. Roll call of officers found two absent. Pro tem officer was Diana Smith.

One new petition for membership was accepted. Tina Wittenmeyer was then initiated. Two petitions for reinstatement were also accepted.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved and the treasurer’s report was accepted subject to audit. One bill was presented. Official communications were read and committee reports were given.

It was decided to earmark the money made on the previous Friday night dinner to the nursing home bingo fund. The drawing for the outdoor grill will be on Oct. 26 during the membership drive.

Trustee Diana Smith gave the audit report and it was accepted.

It was announced that the annual post Thanksgiving dinner would be Nov. 21. The date was set for the children’s Christmas party, 2 p.m. Dec. 7. A sign-up sheet will be made for the club room and members who have paid their 2013 dues may sign up their children and grandchildren up to age 8. The deadline for signing up is Nov. 30.

It was decided the Auxiliary will contribute $200 towards the children’s party.

The meeting was then closed according to ritual. The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 13.
