Ways to help others

R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program)

RSVP is seeking more volunteers to fill requests from non-profit and community service agencies. Volunteers choose when, where and with whom they want to work. Assignments are made to fit the volunteer’s interests and availability. Becoming a volunteer with RSVP can enrich your life while making a difference in the lives of others. If you are 55 or older and would like to meet other caring people, learn new skills and help others, call 812-254-1996 or email rsvp1@rtccom for more information.

ST. VINCENT de PAUL

St. Vincent de Paul is a world-wide Christian community formed to help the poor. The local St. Vincent de Paul Society provides emergency aid to families in our community for rent, heat, electric, food, medical, clothing etc. You can help by donating items to the St. Vincent Store with all proceeds from the store used for emergency aid. St. Vincent is also in need of monetary donations. Donations may be sent to: St. Vincent de Paul, 815 E. Main St., Washington, IN 47501

Feed My Sheep

If you’re cleaning out your freezer to make room for new meat, or if you have left over fresh produce, please consider donating the items you’re getting rid of. Paper goods, cleaning supplies, large paper and grocery sacks are also accepted. Feed My Sheep supplies food to over 500 families each month. Many churches, organizations and individuals work together to stock the shelves of this county-wide service. Volunteers are needed regularly to serve the countywide food pantry. During the monthly distributions in Washington and Odon, (and on Thursday evenings after the third Saturday distribution) volunteers assist with set up, guiding consumers through the line and clean up. For information or to volunteer, call or leave a message at 812-254-5429.
