On April 12 the Martin County Humane Society held its annual dinner and auction at Loogootee High School. During the event, Joshua Hughett, society president, presented plaques to Terri Dye (left) and Linda Sherfick who recently retired from the board of directors. Sherfick has been with the Humane Society for more than 30 years and was one of the original names on the articles of incorporation. She served as treasurer and secretary during her tenure. Dye has volunteered with the society for more than 10 years and served as the organization’s treasurer for several of those years. The ladies plan to continue to volunteer when they can. Around $5,500 was raised at the dinner and auction.
