Tim Clark to speak at Ark

Allison reunion on Sunday

Anti-tobacco team to meet

The Daviess County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Coalition and HEALTH Team will meet from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Daviess County Security Center training room. All who are interested in improving the health of our community are invited to attend.

Senior Seminar on Oct. 1

A Senior Seminar will be presented at Senior and Family Services, 211 E. Main Street, Washington on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m. The topic is Medicare 101. The presenter is Lorealee Moore, Southern Indiana Area Manager with the State Insurance Assistance Program. SHIP is a free unbiased counseling program for Medicare beneficiaries in Indiana. The community is invited to come and learn some basic information regarding Medicare: the options, the Medicare alphabet, enrollment periods, and updates for 2014. Oct. 15 to Dec. 7 is Medicare Open Enrollment, a time when ALL people with Medicare can change their Medicare health plan and their Medicare prescription drug coverage for 2014. This is a great opportunity to get the information you need concerning any changes you may be considering. The presentation is followed by a question and answer period and light refreshments will be served. This seminar is FREE to the public and made possible through special funding by the Daviess County United Way. Call 254-1881 for more information or questions.

Road closing in Martin County

The Indiana Department of Transportation is announcing that SR 450 will be closing in Martin County.

On Monday, Oct. 7, at approximately 8 a.m., INDOT will close SR 450 from the junction of US 50 to the junction of SR 158. Crews will be replacing three drainage structures under the roadway. All work is scheduled to be complete by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, weather permitting.

The official detour will route traffic on US 41, SR 64 and SR 65. Local residents will have access to the points of closure which are 0.3, 5.4 and 10.6 miles east of US 50.
