Over the next several weeks, Showalter will be at nearly every performance. "We spend a lot of time on the road going to support the kids. I always make sure they have some kind of treat or incentive after each contest. The kids all work really hard on their show."
Showalter has also played a vital role in helping the Golden Pride become a 501c3 non-profit organizations. "Now any contributions to the band program are tax deductible."
Not one to take credit for all his work, Showalter, who has also been a member of the volunteer fire department since 1986, said he prefers to stay behind the scenes with many of his projects with the band. "It's not about me, it's about the kids."
