---- — LOOGOOTEE — The Hoosier Lottery is partnering with more than 65 Indiana county humane societies and animal shelters, including the Martin County Humane Society, to sponsor adoption events around the state through October.
From now through October 19, adopt a dog or cat from the Martin County Humane Society and receive five free Lucky Dog Scratch-Off tickets. Adoption fees must be paid at the time of adoption.
Also, anyone that donates a bag of dog or cat food will receive one ticket. You must be 18 years of age or older to get tickets.
Humane Society President Josh Hughett said: “We are thankful that the Hoosier Lottery is doing this for the shelter animals in the state and we are very hopeful that this promotion will help us find loving homes for our many dogs and cats, some who have been waiting so long.”
The Hoosier Lottery’s new Lucky Dog Scratch-Off encourages Hoosiers to “scratch a lucky dog”.
In doing so, the Hoosier Lottery hopes to bring awareness to animal adoption opportunities and the importance of spay and neuter programs in communities across Indiana.
The new Lucky Dog scratch-off game features photos of ten adoptable dogs from Indiana animal shelters; three from the Humane Society of Indianapolis, three from the Humane Association of Clark County and four from the Allen County SPCA. Each individual $2 ticket offers the chance to win cash prizes up to $10,000 and contains information directing players to log on to www.hoosierlottery.com/luckydog to learn more about animal adoption in Indiana including how to donate winning and unscratched tickets to benefit local animal shelters.
Each ticket will also include mention of the Lucky Dog of the Week picture contest on Hoosier Lottery’s facebook page which is open to all Hoosiers 18 and older. In the Wabash Valley, the Hoosier Lottery is partnering with humane societies in Clay, Knox, Martin, Sullivan and Parke-Vermillion counties as well as the Terre Haute Humane Society.
The Martin County Humane Society is located at 507 N. Oak Street in Loogootee. Hours are Wednesday through Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or by appointment another time.
