---- — OAKTOWN — On Saturday, September 28, 2013, Melon Acres celebrated the end of its Community Supported Agriculture season with a Dinner Down on the Farm event. Over 350 CSA shareholders and their families visited the Oaktown Produce Depot for farm tours, a quilt show, promotional partner displays, kids’ activities and a homegrown meal from Carla’s Catering.

The evening benefitted PACE Community Action Agency with $1,526 raised through a silent auction and Rosé and Monet art entertainment to support the local Head Start program.

“School readiness is a main focus at PACE Head Start,” said Angie Lange, PACE Program Coordinator. “This generous donation will help ensure that the children have the educational supplies needed for a smooth and successful transition into Kindergarten.”

Melon Acres’ CSA program is focused on providing local, healthy options all summer long. Information regarding the 2014 CSA program will be available on Melon Acres’ website, www.melonacres.com.
