City Council to meet

Washington City Council and Board of Public Works and Safety will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers, 200 Harned Ave. Items included on the council agenda: reading of resolution approving sidewalk and curb replacement; 2014 city holidays. Board of Public Works and Safety agenda includes: inter-local agreement between county and city; agreement to install water line under railroad; bids on hydraulic articulating aerial device; salary/position changes in water, street and electric departments.

Governor to come to Washington

Gov. Mike Pence will be at Padaco Event Center, 2000 State St., from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Tuesday for a state of the state update. RSVP at 254-5262 today.

VFW officer to visit

VFW State Service Officer Paul Curtice will be at the Washington VFW, 3 E. Main St., at noon Nov. 2 to help in filling out a VA compensation package or to answer questions about VA compensation. All veterans are welcome.

Edwardsport church to hold chili supper

The First Baptist Church in Edwardsport will hold a chili supper fund raiser starting at 5 p.m. Nov. 2. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under and may be purchased from church members or at the door.

Tri-Cap run coming Nov. 3

TRI-CAP is sponsoring a a run/walk on Nov. 3. Both the 3.75 and 13.1 miles runs begin at 10 a.m. at the Ferdinand State Forest. Registration can be completed the day of the race, $35 for the 3.75 mile run and $55 for the 13.1 mile and includes race entry, a jacket and refreshments. Awards will be given.

Grief support group in Shoals

Grief's Journey will be held on Nov. 4 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.at The River. The River is located next to the fire station on Water Street in Shoals. Grief's Journey is a grief share group that will help you with the grief of a loved one and be supported along the way. The main objective of this group is for hurting people to find hope along their Grief Journey. The group will be led by Ann Stewart and Rene' Sipes.
