Bark in the Park event organizers are thrilled with the results of this year’s event held last weekend in Eastside Park.
Washington Junior Beta Club volunteers helped with every aspect of putting on the event. “This year Friends for Animals raised over $2,500, and words cannot express how appreciative we are for the generosity of the community. This sum of money will make a tremendous impact on the well-being of local animals in need,” said Monika Glade, event coordinator and a member of Friends for Animals.
Glade said the event had over 100 participants between the 5k run and the 1-mile walk.
The top three male finishers for the 5k were: first place- Benjamin Harner, second place- Connor Heller, and third place Greg Litherland. The top three female finishers for the 5k were: first place- Andrea Bauer, second place Carrie Loheider, and third place Mandy Dyer.
“The weather was perfect so people and dogs both had a great time. This year we had several new events, such as the agility demonstration put on by Andrea Bauer and various new contests for dogs that attended the event. We can’t wait to add even more events and put on even bigger and better Bark in the Park next year,” said Glade.
