Upcoming blood drives
The Daviess County Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring the following blood drives in September. They include:
Sept. 12 — Berea Mennonite Church, 216 S. Main St., Cannelburg, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Sept. 21 — Bill Dobson Ford, 15 S. Meridian St., Washington, 11 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Sept. 24 — Washington Nursing Center, 603 E. Nat’l Hwy., Washington, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, and cannot have given blood in the past 56 days. The Red Cross is especially low on Type O+ and O-, but all types are desperately needed.
Shot clinic for Sept.
The Daviess County Health Department will offer immunizations for children younger than 19 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 4 at Dr. Holsopple’s office; from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 20 at Country Health Clinic on Cannelburg Road; and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 24 at Odon Community Building. Those who have health insurance that covers vaccines will need to obtain the vaccines from their medical provider. Children who are covered by Medicaid or have no health insurance or if insurance does not cover vaccines may still obtain the vaccines at the Health Department. There is an administration fee of $8 per shot if you have no insurance. You may call the Health Department and schedule your child for his/her immunizations. Immunizations are done daily at the Health Department. Call 254-8666 to schedule your child’s immunizations.
WHS yearbooks have arrived
Any 2013 graduating senior from WHS that ordered a yearbook can pick them up Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the high school office. There will be extra books available for purchase as well.
