---- — The Christmas lights and displays at Eastside Park are on and will continue through the end of the holiday season. While cruising through the park anytime between the hours of 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. turn your radio dial to 87.9 to listen to Christmas music during your visit. Also, reduce your speed and drive with caution.
The overhead lighting in the parking lots has been turned off to enhance the effect of the lights and displays.
A few new lights and displays have been added this year.
Any organizations, businesses, or individuals that would be interested in purchasing lights or displays for use at Eastside Park can call Parks Superintendent Mike McLemore for details at 254-6010.
The “2013 Christmas in the Park” event will be celebrated Dec. 12 and 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Community Building.
Santa’s helpers will be serving hot chocolate, coffee, juices and cookies. Children will have opportunity to visit with Santa Claus.
Everyone is welcome to ride Santa’s train and also enjoy a carriage ride. Both excursions will take you through the park to view the thousands of Christmas lights and displays. On both evenings Bethany Christian Church will be providing Christmas caroling.
While waiting to ride or visit with Santa Claus, children will have the opportunity to make their own Christmas tree ornament.
