The Sheldon Matthew Smith Memorial endowment fund held with the Daviess County Community Foundation is making two scholarship awards available this year to graduating seniors at both Washington and Washington Catholic high schools. The award amount is $500.
Established by Sheldon’s parents, Judge Greg and Natalie Smith, the scholarship fund awards scholarships for students who are planning to pursue a two- or four- year college or vocational school degree in writing (literature, not journalism), computer graphics, computer game design, computer art design, computer animation, computer programming or web design.
Selection will be based on applicant’s cumulative grade point average, financial need, and the required essay. Applicants receiving a 4-year, full tuition scholarship, including the 21st Century Scholarship, will not be considered.
The deadline for applications is Feb. 1.
