---- — In a surprise presentation at an Edward Jones Open House in December, Brenda Sobecki was recognized by the local Edward Jones financial advisors as the 2013 recipient of the Edward Jones Achievement Award.

For the past 10 years, Edward Jones advisors have selected an individual from Daviess County who unselfishly gives their time, talents and gifts.

“Brenda Sobecki is the perfect recipient of this year’s award,” Alan Bubalo said. “Brenda not only gives tirelessly to Daviess County United Way, but she is extremely devoted to her church and the local Rotary club.

“She also helped extensively with relief services back in November when the tornado came through Washington.”

Sobecki received a special gift at the ceremony by the local advisors. In addition, a cash gift of $3,000 was donated in Sobecki’s name to the Daviess County Community Foundation.

Past recipients of the award include: Glen Graber, Dave Cox, Jeannie Burks, Albert Kavanaugh, Jim Norton, Chuck Taylor Jr., Tom and Marsha Boyd, Bill and Bev Summers and the late Henry Gwaltney, Abe Knepp, Art Boddy and Barbara Smith.
