---- — The August meeting of the Arts and Flowers Garden Club was held recently at the Washington Carnegie Public Library. President Linda Myers called the meeting to order and read the purpose of the club. She then led the group in the pledge of allegiance. She thanked the hostesses Susan Frye, Linda Cornelius and Helen Dashnaw. Secretary Bonnie Miles called the roll and read the minutes. Treasurer Janet Goodwin gave her report.
Shelia O’Maley reported that the hanging baskets on Main Street have been replanted. The group voted to pay the membership dues to the Daviess County Historical Society.
Speaker Laura Albertson, director of Martin County Solid Waste Management District, gave a informative presentation about recycling and some interesting things that can be made from recycling.
Other members attending were Joan Buchanan, Phyllis Burch, Flo Cavanaugh, Linda Free, Barbara Fyffe, Betty Hamersly, Sue Harper, Kathleen Harris, Judi Hill, Sallie Hoefling, Shirley Jones, Fran Neal, Jodi Parson, Dorothy Pegler, Jan Smith, Bev Summers, Pat Thompson, Marguerite Tuggle, Jan Wininger, Mary Gotwald and Nyla Wachter.
The next meeting will be Sept. 12 at the library. Kathleen Harris will give the program on community gardening.
