Odon Class of 1956 holds reunion

On Aug. 10 the Odon High School Class of 1956 observed its 57th anniversary with a class reunion at a Montgomery restaurant with 33 class members and guests attending.

Joyce Kollmeyer gave the blessing before the meal. A memorial service was conducted by Darlene Bechtel for the 10 deceased classmates, Bill Simmons, Robert Callahan, Tom Hunter, Gary Willard, Sharon Gallimore Corey, Tom Matthews, Geraldine Bentley Davis, Connie Smith Sinclair, Charles Harris and Daisy Harper Canady.

Beverly Wadsworth and Lloyd Resler were crowned 57th reunion king and queen. Prizes were awarded to Kathryn Bonney for the farthest distance traveled, Pat Turpen for the grayest hair, and Sondra Brown for the first reservation. It was decided to have the 60th reunion in three years on the Saturday of Old Settlers in 2016. The reunion committee will remain the same, Rita Wilson, Darlene Bechtel, Darlene Blackmore and Sondra Brown.

Class picture was taken after the meeting. Those attending from out of town were Opal Malone Arnold of Greencastle; Brian and Darlene Hubler Blackmore of Worthington; Chuck and Kathryn Bunch Bonney of Elgin, Ill.; Joe and Darlene Pershing Deckard of Columbus; Keith and Joy Haywood of Terre Haute; Jerry and Joan Ritchey Shadle of Loogootee; Robert and Janice Holt of Bloomfield; George and Joyce Jolliff Kollmeyer of Brazil; Lloyd and Charlotte Resler of Loogootee; George and Roxanne Sparks of Worthington; Richard Stickles of Seymour; Billy Joe and Belen Taylor of Bloomington. Attending from Odon were Sondra Hayes Brown, Gerrie and Sharon Kaiser Shafer, Robert and Nancy Sims, Pat Maxwell Turpen, Rita Sears Wilson, LeRoy and Beverly Osborn Wadsworth, John and Darlene Howard Bechtel.
