United Methodist women meet

The United Methodist Women of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church met Oct. 1 at the home of Bonnie James. Chris Allison, president, opened the meeting with the purpose of United Methodist Women. A thank you was given to James for hosting the meeting and welcoming the group into her home. Ruth Ellen Allison gave a devotional on “Prayer and Praise” based on James 5:13.

James gave the treasurer’s report. All payments to the southwest district have been paid. Any outstanding bills from the 90th birthday celebration should be turned in to James. It was reported that gifts were given to Marie Cain, Dorothy Allison and Kathryn Koenig at the celebration. Eleanor Lawyer said she took five bags of diapers and baby wipes to Mary Lick to deliver them to the southwest district meeting.

The annual Thanksgiving dinner will be Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The program and decorations were discussed. Tom and Susan Stiles will speak at the church worship service on Dec. 8.

Lawyer gave the program titled “She Did What She Could” based on Mark 14:8. She challenged each of the women to do what they could, not necessarily something big, just what each could do. Chris Allison closed the meeting with prayer.

Also attending were Ruth Ellen Allison, Phil and Mary Ann Richardson.
