  • Gearing up for the newspaper’s 140th anniversary
    With post-Civil War reconstruction throughout the union and Andrew Johnson, the 17th President of the United States, succeeding the presidency upon the assassination of Abraham Lincoln just two years before, there was surely lots of news to publish in Washington’s first newspaper.
  • Charges for gun-toting boy should be revealed
    It is time for the Daviess County court system and Daviess County Prosecutor’s Office to act in the best interest of the local public and release the charges and any other pertinent information regarding the 12-year-old boy who took a loaded gun to school at North Daviess on April 11.
  • Coroner's report should be released
    One man is dead. His wife was critically wounded. Her son, who was present at the shooting, is in jail — but on separate drug charges. No charges have been filed in the shooting incident, which happened on April 13 in one of our smallest communities — Epsom. Investigators had said they were waiting on the autopsy for Gerald Leon Rollins before jumping to conclusions as far as charges were concerned.
