The series -- 67th regular-season meeting. The Colts lead series, 40-26. Indianapolis has won three of their past four games played on the road with New York. The Colts have posted victories in seven of the past 10 games with the Jets. Indianapolis has a 21-12 regular-season road record against New York (8-6 at Shea Stadium and 13-6 at Giants Stadium). The Colts registered a 31-28 win the last time the two teams played in New York in 2006. QB Peyton Manning scored on a 1-yard run to seal the comeback victory. The Jets have posted wins in three of the four post-season meetings between the two franchises, including Super Bowl III. New York also posted playoff wins in 2003 (41-0), and 2011 (17-16). Noting it -- RB Vick Ballard will make his first NFL start Sunday against the Jets. Ballard, a rookie from Mississippi State, has been the primary backup to starter Donald Brown for the first four games of the season. He will replace Brown, who is sidelined for a couple of weeks with a knee injury. Ballard has 21 carries this year for 42 yards in spot duty...RB Delone Carter was active for the Packers game last week. It was Carter's first time on the active roster for a game this season. He had been sidelined during OTAs with a broken thumb and then suffered a rib injury in the preseason opener with St. Louis. With Donald Brown sidelined for a couple of weeks, Carter is now expected to get more work...QB Drew Stanton is the Colts' primary backup to starter Andrew Luck. But Stanton came very close to being part of the New York Jets quarterback rotation. He signed with New York over the offseason after beginning his career in Detroit. But after the Jets added Tim Tebow to the roster, Stanton requested a trade. His request was eventually granted as he was traded to Indianapolis...Jets coach Rex Ryan has a 2-1 career won-loss record against Indianapolis...QB Andrew Luck leads all AFC quarterbacks with 104 rushing yards.
