Receipt of Application for a Land Application Permit
A renewal application for a nonsite-specific biosolids land application permit was received by the Solid Waste Permits Section of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) on February 3, 2009 from the CITY OF LOOGOOTEE, 401 JFK Avenue, Loogootee, Indiana, Permit No. IN LA 000319. The applicant is requesting a permit that will allow the land application of municipal biosolids at agronomic rates to farmland located in MARTIN and DAVIESS COUNTIES. A copy of the application is on file at the Shoals Public Library and the Washing-ton Carnegie Public Library for review. This application was submitted in accordance with Indiana Administrative Code 327 IAC 6.1.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Indiana Depart-ment of Environmental Management (IDEM) recognize and encourages the beneficial use of biosolids through such practices as land application. Upon issuance of a land application permit, permittees are allowed to land apply biosolids on qualifying farmland in designated counties, or specific farmland tn designated counties, or specific farmland as designated in the permit, with permission of the landowner. A land application permit controls the quality of the biosolids to be applied as well as the yearly and cumulative amount of biosolids which can be land applied to a site.

The permit application is currently undergoing technical review by the IDEM Solid Waste Permits Section Staff. Interested persons are invited to submit written comments on this application. Comments must be received within 30 days of publication of this notice. Deliver or mail all comments to:
