Arvin, 47, Loogootee, allegedly took nude photographs of inmate Katrina Walker while working in the Martin County Security Center. Hearing held in Pike County case
PETERSBURG — “It’s a shame. It’s a crying shame,” said Kerry Thomas, 46, to about 20 of his family members in a Pike County courtroom Wednesday prior to his bond hearing. Thomas was arrested on Nov. 1 on charges of possession of an explosive device with intent to kill and possession of an explosive device. Making a brighter Christmas
With Christmas a little more than a month away, volunteers are preparing to help the less fortunate give their children a nice Christmas. Coordinators from 18 area churches met Monday at Good Shepard Lutheran Church to put the finishing touches on Jubilee Christmas. Miller returns to school
PRINCETON — Retired Washington schools superintendent Tom Miller has been hired full time by the North Gibson School Corporation. They simply dropped the “interim” in Miller’s title, offering him a three-year contract Monday night. Miller was retired after 19 years as Washington schools superintendent in 2006, and was a budget consultant for NGSC for three years prior to taking the interim superintendent post. Montgomery man pleads guilty to sex crimes
As a Daviess County jury was waiting in the jury room prior to be sworn in, defendant Mark Jones submitted a plea agreement to Superior Court Judge Dean Sobecki Tuesday morning. Alleged sex with inmate leads to jailer's arrest
SHOALS — A part-time jailer at the Martin County Security Center was arrested Friday for trafficking and sex with a female inmate. Mark G. Arvin, 47, Whitfield, was charged with trafficking with an inmate, a Class A misdemeanor and sexual misconduct as a service provider, a Class C felony. Montana man wants old lumber
“They think this is the oldest Amish-built barn in Daviess County,” said Ephraim Graber, 23, looking at a barn on the property of Amos Wittmer just north of Montgomery. The barn, which locals believe was built in either 1870 or 1871, has been in the Wittmer family since it’s construction. That is until recently when Graber bought it. He bought the barn with the purpose of deconstructing it, saving as much of it as he could, including the pegs that held each piece of lumber together.
