Barr-Reeve High School will have its 43rd commencement exercises at 2 p.m. Saturday in the high school gymnasium.

Matthew Cangelosi, Elisha M. Bault, Hogan L. Helms and Haley C. Kavanaugh are this year’s valedictorians.

Cangelosi is the son of Mark and Kathy Cangelosi of rural Loogootee. He is listed as an All American Scholar and Who’s Who Among High School Students, has received both the Principal’s Award and the Presidential Award for high academic standing. He has been a member of the National Beta Club, Barr-Reeve Beta Club, and Art Club. Following graduation, he plans to attend Digipen Institute of Technology in Redmond, Wash., and major in production animation. He is a recipient of an Imagine America Scholarship.

Bault is the daughter of Mark and Theresa Bault of rural Loogootee. Bault has been a member of the National Beta Club, Barr-Reeve Beta Club, Spanish Club and a four-year member of the band. She is listed as an All American Scholar, named Who’s Who Among High School Students, has received both the Principal’s Award and the Presidential Award for high academic standing.

Following graduation, she plans to attend Purdue University and pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. She has been named a Hoosier Scholar, Eli Lilly Scholarship Alternate, recipient of the McKinley Vance Agri-Business Scholarship, an Arvin-Canolty Ed. Assistance Scholarship, and a Barr-Reeve Scholarship Foundation Scholarship recipient.

Helms is the son of Darren and Tina Helms of rural Cannelburg. He is listed as an All American Scholar and Who’s Who Among High School Students, named to the National Honor Roll of high school students, has received both the Principal’s Award and the Presidential Award for high academic standing. He has been a member of the National Beta Club, Barr-Reeve Beta Club, Spanish Club, band, and a class student council representative.

Following graduation, Helms plans to attend the University of Southern Indiana and pursue a degree in civil engineering. He is a recipient of a USI Departmental Scholarship and the USI Potts Engineering Scholarship, a recipient of a Barr-Reeve Arvin-Canolty Ed. Assistant Scholarship and a Barr-Reeve Scholarship Foundation recipient.

Kavanaugh is the daughter of Mike and Michelle Kavanaugh of rural Cannelburg. She has been a member of the National Beta Club, Barr-Reeve Beta Club, Renaissance Club, a four-year member of the band, and a three-year member of the chorus. She is listed as an All American Scholar, named Who’s Who Among High School Students, has received both the Principal’s Award and the Presidential Award for high academic standing.

Following graduation, she plans to attend Ball State University and pursue a degree in optometry. She has been named a recipient of a Ball State Presidential Scholarship, a Barr-Reeve Arvin-Canolty Ed. Assistance Scholarship and a Barr-Reeve Scholarship Foundation Scholarship recipient.

Salutatorians are Kendall J. Murphy and Amber Jo Rademacher.

Murphy is the son of Dwayne and Katrina Murphy of Montgomery. He is listed as an All American Scholar and Who’s Who Among High School Students, has received both the Principal’s Award and the Presidential Award for high academic standing. He has been a member of the National Beta Club, Barr-Reeve Beta Club, SADD Club, Spanish Club, Renaissance Club, a two-year member of the band and served as a cadet teacher. He has also received a number of individual awards for his academic excellence.

Following graduation, Murphy plans to attend the University of Southern Indiana and pursue a degree in accounting and finance. He was a recipient of a Dwight Risley Scholarship through the Daviess County Community Foundation, an IBCA Marion Crawley Scholarship, a USI Departmental Scholarship, the Raymond and Hazel Roesner Scholarship, an Arvin-Canolty Ed. Assistance Scholarship and a Barr-Reeve Scholarship Foundation recipient.

Rademacher is the daughter of Joe and Anita Rademacher of Montgomery. She is listed as an All American Scholar and Who’s Who Among High School Students, has received both the Principal’s Award and the Presidential Award for high academic standing. She has also been a member of the National Beta Club, the Barr-Reeve Beta Club, Spanish Club, chorus and served as a class representative on the student council.

Following graduation, She plans to attend Vincennes University and pursue a physical therapy assistant degree. She is a recipient of a VU Salutatorian Scholarship and a Barr-Reeve Scholarship Foundation Scholarship recipient plus additional scholarship awards.

Sixty-four graduates will march to the processional call of “Pomp and Circumstance” as played by the Barr-Reeve High School band under the direction of Stephanie O’Brian.
