The Daviess County Community Foundation is accepting applications for grants to community organizations. Proposals may be written for charitable projects and activities that address needs or opportunities in the county in health, human services, arts and culture, education, community development and other areas that would improve Daviess County.
Only those agencies or organizations which are tax exempt under 501(c)(3) and 509(a) or other nonprofit organizations conducting public charitable activities are eligible. Proposals must be postmarked or delivered to the DCCF office at 410 E. Main St. in Washington by 5 p.m. on Aug. 4. Grant applications may be obtained by visiting the DCCF Web site at www.daviesscommunityfoundation.org or at the DCCF office.
The foundation will host grant program orientations to answer questions about how to submit the best possible proposal, as well as to offer general grant-writing advice. The first of these sessions, conducted by Jeanne Fields, foundation director, will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Carnegie Public Library, 300 W. Main St., Washington. The second session will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at The Barn on Main Street in Odon. Those wishing to attend must call the DCCF office at 254-9354 to register. Other questions regarding grants should be directed to the DCCF office or to Melinda Waldroup, program director for the Community Foundation Alliance, at 434-4923.
The amount available for granting will be announced at the help session. Announcement of the grant awards will be made by late October.
