Washington woman dies in Sunday accident

From Staff Reports

A Washington woman was killed Sunday in a two-vehicle accident in Gibson County.

Marjorie M. Fleetwood, 65, formerly of 4 Cindy Kay Drive, of Sunset Towers 306, was a passenger in a 2005 Chevrolet Venture being driven north on SR 57, south of Oakland City, at 2:20 p.m. by her husband Kenneth J. Fleetwood, 69, when he made a left turn in front of a 1990 Oldsmobile, being driven south on 57 by Danielle L. Messick, 16, Oakland City.

According to the accident report, Messick had no time to hit her brakes or try to avoid hitting the passenger side of the Venture. The Venture rolled once and came to rest on its wheels facing northwest.

Marjorie Fleetwood died from internal injuries to her entire body.

Kenneth Fleetwood also suffered internal injuries and Messick complained of head pain. It is unknown what hospital either was or is being treated at.
