Jalen Richard Blake, 2 1/2, died June 28 of damages from a blunt impact to the head.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office said Wednesday that Blake, son of recently arrested Vadney Blake, Montgomery, died of “subdural hemorrhages due to blunt impact of the head.”
Vadney Blake, 22, was arrested last week on charges of neglect of a dependent and conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. According to police, more charges may be filed against Vadney.
The probable cause affidavit submitted for Vadney’s arrest said she admitted that she abused Jalen and suspected her boyfriend at the time, Jeff Truelove, may have as well.
Truelove, 40, Jasper, while state police were checking on his probation status, fled and later committed suicide in a cemetery near Loogootee.
Vadney Blake is currently housed in the Daviess County Security Center on $500,000 bond. She is due in court for a pretrial conference on Aug. 26. Blake was appointed attorney Anthony D. Quinn of Jasper to represent her.
