Working with the Advance Manufacturing Productivity Center, the Chamber of Commerce and the city of Washington, the Street Lamp Committee has produced one of many street lamps for the revitalization of Main Street. An identical light painted white will be placed on the northwest corner of the intersection for the committee and the public to compare.

The plan for additional lights includes 48 more after the initial two and will run from S.E. Seventh on Main to the block bordering Carnegie Public Library. Students of the AMPC are producing the lamps, allowing them to learn new equipment, as well as local production and control of the design. The lights will be paid for with a grant and individual donations, and dedication plaques may be placed in preferred locations. The city of Washington’s Electrical Department is providing the wiring and installation.

To voice an opinion or for more information, call the Chamber of Commerce at 254-5262 or the AMPC at 257-8840.
