ATV accident leads to 1 death, 2 arrests

PLAINVILLE — A Vincennes woman lost her life in an all-terrain vehicle accident early Sunday morning. Two others involved in the accident were arrested at the scene.

Jennifer S. Celeste, 26, was a rear passenger on a 2009 Yamaha 700 Grizzly ATV being driven by Adam C. Morris, 27, Vincennes.

He was driving east on SR 358 east of the Carnahan River Bridge at 12:35 a.m. following a 2008 Yamaha Grizzle 660, driven by Scott A. Crouch, 44, Vincennes. Crouch stopped and Morris was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of Crouches ATV throwing Celeste off the back.

She was taken by ambulance to Daviess Community Hospital and then by Air Evac to Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, where she was later pronounced dead.

None of those involved in the accident were wearing safety helmets.

Morris and Crouch were both charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated resulting in death.

They are being held at the Daviess County Security Center awaiting a court appearance.

Blake Everhart, state conservation officer, led the investigation, assisted by sheriff’s deputies, Plainville firefighters, Southwest Medical Ambulance personnel, Air Evac personnel and Vanderburg County coroner.
