PETERSBURG — One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident Friday.

Pike County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene where a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by Ryan Parsons, 23, 1315 E. Walnut St., was traveling south on SR 57 when he crossed the center line causing a head-on collision with a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by Christine Kell, 49, Evansville, that was traveling north on SR 57.

Parsons suffered facial and head injuries and was transported to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville were he is currently in stable condition in the ICU unit.

Initial investigation showed that Parsons did have illegal narcotics in his system, which could have been a factor in the cause of the accident. Charges are still pending against Parsons. The investigation is still on going.
