---- — Heartline Ministries is looking to raise money for a new women’s center at silent auction on March 1.

Over 100 items will be available for bidders from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Eastside Park Community Building. Some of the items include ticket packages, travel weekends and many gift certificates.

Other items include tickets to an Indiana Pacers and Chicago Bulls game. An Evansville Otters ticket package is available, along with tickets to Big Splash Adventure Indoor Water Park and Resort in French Lick. Also available will be an RV stay at Lake Rudolph in Santa Claus.

There will be many themed gift baskets available as well as many gift certificates, including a $100 detailing from Washington Chrysler Center. Lunch will also be available, as well as a gently-used book sale.

Mike and Sherri Healy have been very involved with Heartline. The two, along with others in the area, make a mission trip to Haiti every year. Sherri said the auction has always been a fun event.

“I think people will be pleasantly surprised,” Sherri said. “It will be a lot of fun.”

She said many who come for the first time always have a good time not just bidding on items, but also having a good time with friends.

It’s just a lot of different and interesting things to see and bid on,” Sherri said.

The ministry, started in 1989, has grown to include programs for all Haitians in the impoverished country. In 2007, according to its website, the ministry started a women’s program that teaches women and young girls in one of five educational programs.

The program teaches women how to read and write, sew or do other tasks that will help them gain job skills.

The goal of the auction is to raise money to build a new Women’s Center in Haiti. Heartline currently uses leased space, but wants to build its own facility, beginning in April. The ministry hopes to raise $30,000 for the new center.
