Sponsorship drive for Friends for Kids

The Washington Times-Herald

---- — The board members of the Daviess County Friends for Kids organization will be conducting its annual sponsorship drive. The members will be contacting various businesses in the county to ask for their help with the organization.

The purpose of Friends for Kids is to provide adult companionship for a child in need. The Friends for Kids volunteer is not a substitute parent or psychologist but just someone who cares enough to spend time, do special things and listen.

Volunteers can be husband and wife, mother and daughter, father and son, or an individual working together to make a difference. This is not only great for the child, but also the adults are rewarded likewise.

Operating funds for the organization are raised through United Way, Daviess County Community Foundation, various grants, and donations from public and private sources, individual contributions and fundraising events such as this sponsorship drive. These funds cover salary for the director, insurance and various events throughout the year for participants.

When a business sponsors Friends for Kids they help the organization make a difference in a child’s life. Sponsors will have their name applied to a banner that is displayed throughout the year at all of the organization’s events.

If you would be interested in this program by volunteering or donating to the organization please call Laura Sims at 259-1708 or Lisa Shafer 698-0302.
