The number is funded by the United Way, community foundations, and local, state and federal government.
Commissioner George read the veterans service officer, Tom Trambaugh’s, fourth quarter report.
According to the report, Trambaugh made 15 trips to the VA hospital or clinics for 2,451 miles, made 51 phone calls, and met with three veterans and/or their family members.
Being the first meeting of the year, the commissioners held the officer election for the board with George retaining the position as resident and Gregory being voted as vice president. This was also the first meeting for new Commissioner Kevin Boyd.The commissioners approved appointing themselves to serve on the redevelopment commission and the solid waste board, Boyd to serve on the SIDC board, Gregory to serve on the Alliance board, and George to serve on the district planning oversight committee. They also voted to keep David Lett as the county attorney.
The commissioners voted to reappoint John Jones as the courthouse custodian, Monte Wolf as emergency management director, and Mike and Andy Ringwald as assistant emergency management directors. The commissioners also have appointments to make for the Samaritan Advisory Board, WestGate Authority Board, Daviess-Martin Park Board, and the Martin County Health Department. George noted that anyone interested in serving on these boards should contact one of the commissioners.
Gregory said they are not dissatisfied with anyone currently serving on the boards, they just decided to open it up for others who may be interested.
