New water

exercise class at Y

The Daviess Community Hospital and the YMCA have teamed up to provide the community with a new water exercise class for those who suffer from arthritis.

The class is taught by hospital therapist Mickey Deitz on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. starting in July. Deitz has received special arthritis aquatic training from the Arthritis Foundation. There will be a free class on Tuesday.

This is a low impact water exercise program for individuals with arthritis or other physical impairments. Water buoyancy and resistance exercises are designed to help increase joint mobility and muscle strength as well as provide exercise and relieve discomfort.

The Y also has Silver Sneakers and Aqua Combo classes. Registration is taking place this week at the Y. For more information, call 254-4481.
