An Anderson man was arrested by state police in a chase that ended in Petersburg early Friday.
Darius A. Hardiman, 21, was taken into custody by troopers in connection with a shooting in Anderson on March 17.
According to a press release from the state police, Anderson Police notified local law enforcement that Hardiman may be in the Evansville area. At 10:30 p.m. Thursday, state police and the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force received information that Hardiman was in Petersburg.
The release said over 20 officers from state police, Pike County Sheriff's deputies, Petersburg and Washington police were in the area looking for the fugitive. At 6:30 a.m., Hardiman was found hiding in the brush behind the Kangaroo Express gas station on SR 57.
He was then arrested and taken to the Pike County Jail where he is awaiting transport to Anderson. Pike County schools were on a two-hour delay due to the fugitive chase.
