Clay Williams is the son of C.C. and Pam Williams. He is now the fifth generation of pharmacists in the Williams family, dating back to his great-great-grandfather C.C. Williams, who started his pharmacy career in the late 1890s. Growing up with a history of family in the pharmacy business, Clay knew he wanted to be a pharmacist. He started his career at Williams Bros. by picking up trash around the building and back lot. He then spent two years cleaning medical equipment for the Durable Medical Equipment department which led to becoming a regular DME employee for a year. Once he was old enough, he started working as a Pharmacy Technician rotating between the Retail and Long Term Care pharmacies. At this point, the desire to become a pharmacist was solidified. While earning his pharmacist degree, Clay had the opportunity to intern at several pharmacies which gained him great experience in the field of pharmaceuticals.
Clay Williams graduated from Union University School of Pharmacy in Jackson, Tenn., in May of 2013. Upon graduation, he accepted the head pharmacist and manager position of the Bloomington location of Williams Bros. Health Care Pharmacy. He and his wife Jessie and their son Charlie currently reside in Bloomington.
When asked what he enjoyed most about being a pharmacist, Clay had this to say, “What I enjoy the most about being a pharmacist is the opportunities I have on a daily basis to have a positive effect on patient’s lives by both interacting with them and being able to provide them with medication to help treat or manage their problems. For a lot of patients, coming to the pharmacy is not a joyful time because they are usually sick, whether that be the flu, a lifelong disease or even a life threatening disease. It is my job to not only to provide them with their medication but educated them and make their experience as pleasant as possible.”
