2:06 p.m. - An employee of Walmart, 100 Bypass 50 Plaza, had a woman from Jasper who tried to take $500 worth of merchandise. The female’s 2-year-old child was placed in temporary custody and charges will be filed against the female.

1:42 p.m. - Gary Overton, 1102 Wykoff Lane, reported a grass fire. City firefighters had extinguished the fire by 2:10 p.m.

7:02 a.m. - An employee of Chuckle’s, 201 N.E. Fifth St., reported a drive-off worth $10 by a man driving a short, yellow bus. The driver of the bus told officers he was talking with the employees and forgot to pay for the gas. He went back and paid for the gas.


6:32 p.m. - An employee of Chuckle’s, 201 N.E. Fifth St., reported a drive-off worth $67.89.



9:39 p.m. - A female caller, 924S 1250E, reported vandalism at her residence. She requested extra patrol.

12:50 p.m. - A caller reported damage to an oil well on Cosby Road. A pole was damaged, possibly by a semi.



5:11 p.m. - Darrell L. Kemp, 30, 6641E 400N, was driving his 2002 GMC 2500 crew cab south on CR 900E when a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Cyla K. Swartzentruber, 18, 13498N 1100E, pulled out in front of the truck. Swartzentruber told deputies she thought the intersection of CR 900E and CR 1000N had a four-way stop. The truck hit the SUV, but there were no injuries. Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.


Dustin L. Brashier, 31, Sullivan, was arrested by city police Monday for possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance. He was being held at the Daviess County Security Center without bond.

David J. Butler, 27, Washington, was arrested by city police Monday for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. He was being held on $4,000 bond.

Kelly D. Stevens, 40, Washington, was arrested by Daviess County Sheriff’s deputies Monday on a warrant for conspiracy to commit dealing in methamphetamine. She was being held on $100,000 bond.

John Stoll, 31, Montgomery, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on an out-of-county warrant for failure to appear. He was being held without bond.
