---- — The Veale Creek Players will begin their 2014 season April 2 through 5 with a mystery dinner theatre performance of “Class Reunion,” an original play written by Roy L. Wachter. Dinner, by Carla’s Catering, will be served at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Christ United Methodist Church each evening. The meal will feature strawberry and blueberry spinach salad, baked chicken on rice, sweet potato casserole, and baked vegetables with German chocolate cake for dessert. Members of PSI Iota sorority will be serving guests at the Captain’s table.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at Hibbett Sports in Cherry Tree Plaza and are $30 each or $50 per couple.

Wachter said the entire play takes place in the dining room of the cruise ship Endevour and the members of the audience will become involved in solving the mystery of the death of one the cruise passengers. “Capt. Anderson plans to dine with and meet nine Orion High School alumni classmates of his cruise director, Melody Hughes,” said Wachter. “We then find out that one of the classmates has been murdered and the remaining members of the class are the primary suspects. Several of the classmates have strong motives to kill their classmate.”

The play consists of two cast members, Chrissy Hooten, who plays Melody, and Wayne Acton, who plays Anderson. Because of the limited cast, the audience has a unique opportunity to volunteer to be one of the eight suspects, implicate the other classmates and share their feelings about the victim. Audience members will also be able to examine physical evidence, listen to interviews of the eight suspects, and cast a vote for the murder.

“Chrissy and Wayne were both in the cast of my last play, “The Blue Hole,” last spring,” said Wachter. “Dean Dorrell will be directing the performances.”

Five other members of the audience will testify as an expert on one of the items of evidence presented.

Wachter said that each performance is limited to 32 seats and because dinner is served, tickets should be reserved early by contacting the box office at 812-257-0892.
