On Oct. 20, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter, promoted Trooper Philip Hensley to the rank of Sergeant to serve as the Public Information Officer for the Jasper Post.
Hensley is a native of Jasper and a 1999 graduate of Jasper High School. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Evansville where he received a degree in electrical engineering.
Hensley started his career in law enforcement in 2004 when he graduated from the 64th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy.
He was assigned to the Jasper Post and has spent the majority of his career patrolling Dubois County. Hensley currently serves in a few specialties for the Indiana State Police. He is the Jasper District Honor Guard Team Leader, a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon, a Field Training Officer, Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor and Crash Reconstructionist.
Sergeant Hensley’s new job responsibilities will include issuing news releases on significant events, responding to media inquiries, and conducting/facilitating informational programs for the public.
Sergeant Hensley and his wife, Rebecca, reside in Spencer County with their children.
