Monday Afternoon Club resumed its 2013 year with a Halloween party on Oct. 7 at the home of Pat Thompson. This year’s theme is Hoosier Hodgepodge.
Costumed members and guests enjoyed a fall buffet while being entertained with ghost stories of Indiana. Lucretia (Kitty) Lawson narrated the home fires of the Hackler family in Odon, Griselda (Diane) Gill told of a visit from the dead in Paoli, Esmerelda (Sally) Young relived the ghostly hollow in Wheatland, and Elphaba (De) Odell told of a haunted railroad in Sullivan.
Commentator Wilomenia (Kim) Wagner gave four rules to keep supernatural elements from one’s home: don’t move into a house with a history; don’t jump into a “really good deal”; don’t buy a home that has had 10 owners in the past year; don’t move into a house next to a cemetery or used as a funeral home.
